About visiblesky:
VISIBLESKY is my web portfolio. I have been designing and building web sites for over ten years. I don't do it all however, and in some cases I work with other IT professionals on a consulting basis when databases or advanced programming is needed. It's a flexible, low-cost "business model" for helping individuals and small companies develop their sites.
About ME - Richard Edward Hicks
A brief background: I started out with a BVA (Batchelor's of Visual Arts) from Georgia State University. It was the 1980's and I was working with numerous ad agencies in the Atlanta area as an independent illustrator and designer. I created storyboards and comp art for J. Walter Thompson, BBD&O, and others. It was a great way to get started. Also, I was creating illustrations for advertising, magazines and publications, the thing I most wanted to do at the time.
In 1990, I began a working relationship with a small PR firm in Atlanta called A. Brown Olmstead, and subsequently handled all of the presentation development and graphic design for the firm, and worked on projects for many of it's clients. This gave me an opportunity to work with companies such as Coca-Cola, Bank South, Bell South, Children's Wish Foundation and many others. During this period, I began working with web and multimedia technology. Using Macromedia's "Director" authoring program, I began creating interactive content for Golan/Harris, which had subsequently purchased the small PR firm of A. Brown Olmstead. In 1995, after being selected by word-of-mouth, I went to work with AT&T's Interactive Products and Services (IPS) to design interfaces and create content for web-based training applications.
In 2000, after leaving AT&T, I moved to New York City and had the opportunity to work a contract with Citibank on Wall Street. The contract lasted nine months and involved updates to the market watch and securities services portion of the Citibank website. In 2002, amidst the chaos of the bursting of the "dot-com bubble" and destruction of the Trade Center, I moved back to Atlanta to persue other interests.
Currently I'm using my design and technology skills to help individuals and small companies to develop and enhance their web-presence in the marketplace.
Some of my other interests are making fine art, esoteric studies, playing guitar, drums and assorted intruments, travel, being with friends,
and just being.
